Last month, University of Wales Trinity Saint David’s Careers Service organised a successful event helping students and recent graduates explore potential career options and build professional networks.

Eleven smiling UWTSD staff in front of a wide corridor full of career-related stands.

Held at the Dylan Thomas Centre in Swansea, the Careers Fair saw 170 students from the University’s Institute of Management and Health and beyond attend to have conversations around work experience, graduate programmes and volunteering schemes.

The fair welcomed a variety of employers and volunteering organisations including Mid and West Wales Fire and Rescue Service, South Wales Police, NHS Wales Careers (HEIW), Swansea Council and National Youth Advocacy Service (NYAS) to name just a few.

UWTSD’S Careers Advisers were also on hand to provide support clinics to anyone seeking career guidance, CV advice and interview coaching - a service they provide regularly to students and alumni.

Standing next to a table loaded with sweets and complimentary pencils, a Morgan Sindall representative chats to students.

For any guests wanting to enhance their professional online presence, the organisers arranged for a photographer to capture LinkedIn headshots.

Students and graduates left the fair with new ideas, opportunities and professional contacts.

Jane Bellis, Executive Careers Adviser said:

“As a Careers Service we were very pleased to welcome over 30 exhibitors to the first Careers fair in Dylan Thomas Centre, Swansea for our IMH Students. Special thanks to all the students who came along and participated in the day, and to all the staff who made it happen.

“We were glad to host a wide range of employers, charities and UWTSD services at the event. We hope to build on this first year of success and return in 2024 with a further event for our students and graduates.”

The next Careers Fair will be held on the University’s Carmarthen campus on Tuesday, January 23rd.
