UWTSD and Institut Supérieur d’Electronique de Paris sign Memorandum of Understanding
The University of Wales Trinity Saint David (UWTSD) and the Institut Supérieur d’Electronique de Paris (ISEP) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to share expertise, facilitate student and staff study exchange, and explore collaborative research opportunities.
UWTSD and ISEP have employability as a core value and will work together to develop employable, resilient, digitally literate graduates.
Established in 1955, ISEP is a non-profit private French Engineering Graduate School, recognized by the French State. ISEP trains elite engineers in digital technologies: IT, Electronics, Telecommunications, AI, Cyber Security, Signal and Image and Humanities. ISEP provides diverse academic programs: Bachelor, Master, Specialized Master, and PhD. The engineering programs at ISEP are delivered in French and English.
Strong partnerships enable ISEP to provide diverse curriculums that keep pace with the times. ISEP has more than 400 corporate partners in various industries (e.g., Airbus, IBM, Thales, Dassault, Cap Gemini, Renault, etc.) and has a worldwide program with more than 150+ international institutions.
The partnership is the latest in a portfolio of programmes available to students from a wide range of geographical areas and offers them a truly global education experience. International students and staff enrich the student experience, enhance learning and teaching, and help to make Welsh graduates more prepared for work.
The partnership also coincides with the launch of the Welsh Government’s ‘Wales in France’ initiative, a year-long celebration of cultural, business and sporting events designed to strengthen existing links and forge new connections between the two countries.
As part of the collaboration, UWTSD students will have the opportunity to apply for a Taith-funded mobility project in the Autumn and students from Paris will visit the University’s SA1 campus in Swansea, with state-of-the-art computing and engineering facilities, including UWTSD’s Cisco Networking Academy. Taith is Wales’s new international learning exchange programme, creating life-changing opportunities to travel, volunteer, learn and experience for students.
Dr Kapilan Radhakrishnan, UWTSD’s Academic Director (Applied Computing) attended a Data Security conference hosted by ISEP in Paris last December to deliver a talk on different cloud storage models, cloud data security issues, the data security lifecycle, and cloud encryption models.
Kath Griffiths, International Regional manager (North America and Outward Mobility), Wales Global Academy said: ”A key feature of the Taith programme is reciprocity; the ability to nurture and develop overseas partners who are already committing to reciprocal arrangements regarding student exchange. This approach through Taith enables high-quality placements and builds towards our aspiration to provide all domestic students with the opportunity to study internationally.”
Vice-Chancellor of UWTSD, Professor Medwin Hughes, DL said: “I’m delighted that the University has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with ISEP which will strengthen our international profile and create opportunities for staff and students to pursue their interests with reciprocal opportunities for international learners here in Wales.
“The partnership will enable students to take part in our study abroad programme through the Welsh Government’s Taith initiative. This provides an excellent opportunity for students to experience living and studying in another country and to gain invaluable insight into international employment opportunities.”

The Institut Supérieur d’Electronique de Paris, located in the heart of Paris, next to the “Quartier Latin,” was created in 1955, just where Edouard Branly, Teacher of Physics at the “Catholic University of Paris”(21 Rue d’Assas), discovered in 1890 the radio conductors which would lead to the invention of the French Television.
