UWTSD academic undertakes Wales international football commentary role

UWTSD academic, Dr Dylan Blain, has been undertaking a football commentary role with S4C.

Dylan has linked up with the team after S4C secured the full rights to broadcast all of Wales’s 2025 UEFA European Under 21 Championship qualifying matches for the first time. 

Dylan, a former Cymru U19 international, wias once again be behind the microphone as Wales faced Iceland and Denmark recently.

Following these latest round of matches, Dylan, commented:

“I’m delighted to see that these Under 21 games are available live on S4C and it really is an honour to have this opportunity to be part of the commentary team.

This current crop of U21 players is incredibly talented and they’ve had an excellent start to this campaign. Playing for Wales is such an honour, and nothing beats putting that red jersey on and hearing Hen Wlad fy Nhadau.” 

At the University, Dylan is Academic Director for the area of Sport and Healthy Living. His academic interests include exploring motivational processes in sports and exercise.
