Students at the University of Wales Trinity Saint David’s (UWTSD) Swansea College of Art are preparing work to display at the annual summer showcase, which takes place at various locations around the city this month.

The annual summer exhibition is a highlight of the Swansea College of Art calendar, where students from all creative courses display their final projects – the culmination of years of learning and refining their crafts.

The shows provide a platform for graduates to showcase their work to a wide audience and are an opportunity to gain exposure and start building a reputation in the art world.

This year’s venues include the University’s Dynevor Building, Alex Design, IQ Building in SA1, the National Waterfront Museum, the Dylan Thomas Centre, and the Volcano Theatre.

Caroline Thraves, Academic Director (Art and Media) at UWTSD’s Swansea College of Art said: “The Graduate Show is a celebration and culmination of students’ undergraduate and postgraduate study, where you will experience wonderful creativity across a wide variety of art and design subject areas. The shows serve as a launching pad for emerging artists, helping them kickstart their careers and navigate the complexities of the art world.

“Art colleges change the world – our students, whose work you will see when you visit the show, will go on to change the world.”

Dr Mark Cocks, Dean of the Institute for Science & Art said the Summer Degree exhibitions celebrate the inspirational creative talents of our Swansea College of Art students.

“The innovation and diversity of the student work is testament to their dedication and creative application of their personal practice. These shows are in one sense a culmination of their academic studies but also they provide the initial trigger for their future creative careers. Please do come and join us to celebrate their work.”
