Pembrokeshire Surf School collaborates with UWTSD Adventure Filmmaking to showcase their Company

The University of Wales Trinity Saint David has recently been in collaboration with a Pembrokeshire Surf school in order to showcase their company.

The BA Adventure Filmmaking students were tasked with creating social media video content for the Pembrokeshire Outer Reef surf school in order to promote their products and services in Tenby and Saundersfoot.

Lecturer Brett Aggersberg said that this opportunity for students is:

“a fantastic way to start their career in Adventure Filmmaking. This is a dynamic industry that is growing quickly. It requires filmmakers and photographers that can think differently, develop new ways of working, and keep pace with the demands of the adventure sector. The students rose to the challenges and overcame difficulties in the weather to create contemporary content that will benefit a local business, and provide real-world experience for their CV’s.”

The project included filming interviews, creating product shots and action shots of sea kayaking, rescue training and paddle boarding. This opportunity enabled students to show off their creative skills on one hand whilst producing content to showcase Outer Reef on the other.

One student from the course mentioned that he:

“thought it was a cool opportunity to work with a surf company and a great opportunity for some real-world experience.”

As part of the project also, lecturer Dave Welton provided unique drone footage of Saundersfoot Harbour.

Mike May, Business Development Manager from Outer Reef Surf School mentioned:

“There were real synergies in course content and our business requirements to have fresh marketing perspectives on our adventurous activities. The students showed an understanding of the brief, overcame some weather-related challenges to produce some excellent content for us. We are happy to invest our instructor time to continue our collaboration with the University to provide commercial experience to the students.”
