University of Wales Trinity Saint David (UWTSD) will host a Hospitality and Gastronomy Industry Day at its IQ Building in SA1 Waterfront Campus, Swansea.

Standing portraits of Ali Halbert crowned World Young Chef and Tilly Morris crowned World Young Waiter in 2022.

Taking place on Monday 22nd May, the conference-style day will open at 9.30am, with speakers from 10am-2.30pm.

The event aims to encourage and educate prospective professionals, current students and FE colleges about careers and trends within Wales’ flourishing Hospitality sector as well as further afield.

Speakers include prominent hospitality and gastronomy industry professionals working in south Wales including Thomas Ferrante, Group Director at Seren Collection, Christie Hayes, Restaurant Manager of the Year, Beach House, Vicky Probert, Director of Sales at Village Hotels and Martyn Guest, Head Chef of Swansea.com Stadium.

Attendees will also hear from current World Young Chef Young Waiter champions Tilly Morris and Ali Halbert, who put team Wales on the international stage after winning the regional finals hosted by UWTSD in Swansea last autumn and world championships in Monaco.

Sean Valentine FIH, Managing Director of the World Young Chef Young Waiter Competition will also speak at the event.

Ffion Cumberpatch, Placement Programme Manager for International Gastronomy Management at UWTSD is organising the event and says: “We’re delighted to announce UWTSD’s Hospitality Conference, a way for current students, prospective students and hospitality businesses to come together to learn and network with industry leaders.”

Robyn Griffiths, Programme Manager for MBA International Hotel Management at UWTSD, adds: “We believe passionately that now is a great time to join the hospitality industry.
