What is Race to Market?
On June 5th to 9th 2017, students across the University came together for a week of workshops and skills development, in an apprentice style business challenge. Some of the students came along with an idea of their own, while others could work with a company that had a real world business problem.
The week saw students hone their skills in business development, pitching and networking supported by a team of volunteer mentors, including entrepreneurs Kieran Abbott of Big Lemon Creative, Helena Demaria-Williams of Nike, Liz Gordon of Mad Apple Designs, Rebecca Hayes of Sgript and Ross Blytt Jordens of Thunderhat.
The week was spent developing their ideas to form a commercial pitch to a panel of experienced business judges – Ian Edwards, CEO of the Celtic Manor and Howard Monsen from Kier Construction Wales.
